Untag Surabaya Non-Regular KKN Students' Technological Innovation Reaps Positive Appreciation from the Community

The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the University of August 17, 1945 (Untag) Surabaya held supervision for the Non-Regular Community Service Program (KKN) for the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This program carries the theme of Implementation of Innovation and Technology to Support the Achievement of Village SDGs , with the aim of measuring the success and quality of the application of technology implemented by students during the KKN, (4/1).

Non-Regular KKN is implemented for six weeks, with activities taking place on Saturdays and Sundays, a total of 12 days. This program covers three sub-districts in Surabaya, namely Sukolilo, Tambaksari, and Rungkut, involving more than 300 students who apply technological innovations in eight RW, namely RW 1, 2, 3, and 8 Medokan Semampir; RW 7 and 9 Gading Tambaksari; and RW 7 Wonorejo Rungkut.

Head of LPPM Untag Surabaya – Aris Heri Andriawan, ST, MT, in his speech during supervision in RW 1 Medokan Semampir emphasized the importance of higher education contribution to the community. "Campuses and students must provide a positive impact. The success of KKN is reflected when the community feels lost after the program is over. I hope students can help the community, especially in waste management, and build close partnerships between universities and the community," he said.

At the closing of the supervision, Aris gave his appreciation for the enthusiasm and innovation shown by the students. "We really appreciate the enthusiasm and innovation shown by the students. We hope that their presence in the community will not only leave a positive impression, but also provide real solutions to the problems faced. Hopefully the ideas implemented will continue to develop and become the starting point for a closer partnership between universities and the community," he added.

Various innovations presented by students in this program received appreciation, including fogging tools to prevent dengue fever (DBD), a waste processing system into compost, a fish feed machine (Pellet Machine), an informative website for RW 7, and a simple RT goods inventory system.
